Dr. Mohammad Karbassi, M.D.

Dr. Mohammad Karbassi, M.D.

Dr. Mohammad Karbassi was born in Iran, and came to the United States in 1979. He graduated from UC San Diego in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with honors, and attended George Washington University Medical School. After graduating in 1988, he pursued internship and residency in General Surgery at Harvard Surgical Services in Boston, MA. He later completed residency in Ophthalmology at Boston University. He has completed two fellowships: one in Clinical Research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and one in Cornea and Refractive Surgery in Rochester, NY.

Dr. Karbassi is a board certified ophthalmologist. He is fellowship-trained in corneal surgery, specializing in corneal transplant, medical corneal conditions, and refractive surgery. He has extensive experience in LASIK and PRK. He performs cataract surgery and uses the latest technology and intraocular lenses.

Dr. Karbassi is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is professionally affiliated with the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Colorado Medical Society, the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the Boulder County Medical Society.

Dr. Sara Heffler, O.D.

Dr. Sara Heffler has been practicing optometry since 1994. She received her B.A. in Health Sciences from Chadron State College, and her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University, Forest Grove, Oregon.

She provides complete eye examinations for all ages, including evaluation of children with specific visual concerns. She also fits all types of contact lenses, specializing in difficult fittings–such as following corneal transplants or other surgeries. Dr. Heffler has longstanding experience in medical eye exams, including detection of cataracts, glaucoma and retinal disorders. She has a genuine concern for her patients’ vision and eye health needs.

Dr. Heffler enjoys hiking, camping, and the Green Bay Packers.

Dr. Sarah Dech, M.D.

Dr. Sarah Dech was born and raised in Detroit, MI and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science with distinction. She then attended medical school at the Ohio State University, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during her junior year, and graduated magna cum laude with her medical doctorate in 2016. She completed an internship at Ascension St. John in Detroit, MI, followed by ophthalmology residency at Tufts Medical Center/New England Eye Center in Boston, MA. She has presented research at the regional and national level, including at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons annual meeting.

Dr. Dech practices medical and surgical comprehensive ophthalmology, including management of cataracts, ocular surface disease, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and eyelid disorders. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Dr. Dech enjoys spending time with her husband, hiking, traveling, watching college football, and discovering new restaurants.
